The affect the internet has had on multi level marketing (MLM) has been nothing but phenomenal. Let’s take a look at how people are capitalizing on the evolution of MLM.
In the past, participating in MLM required members to hassle their family and friends, get people to a live seminar, follow-up afterwards, schedule 3-way closing calls with your up-line and maybe, just maybe you can make a few thousand dollars a year. The amount of time required to grow your down-line was not proportional to the amount of money you could make. Sure, your up-line was making money because they were capitalizing on dozens if not hundreds of like minded people like you to generate a few sales each. Now, the online marketplace has forced a change in MLM fundamentals and now enables down-line candidates to generate income and members without all the hassle previously mentioned.
Prior network marketers can find the current MLM evolution to be a big step in discovering a great new opportunity where they can find their learned skills once again applicable to making a good income. Do all these prior MLMers know how to find the right opportunity for them today?
Let’s take an inventory of changes that occurred recently.
Then – Products being sold were tangible items like nutritional supplements, food plans & cosmetics. Now – Online only products and services like consulting, software and memberships.
Then -MLM companies had traditional storefronts or an office and warehouse Now -Most exist in cyberspace with virtual offices and are entirely legitimate.
Then -Many opportunities to get involved in a start up company, but difficult to do research. Now -Many start-up opportunities. Careful market research is imperative since many will likely end up belly-up within a year.
Then -Scams were prevalent with outrageous promises of get rich quick schemes. Now -No much has changed here. However it is easier to research those making offers to see their track record.
Then -A lot of time was consumed with meeting and other activities leaving very little time to sell or pursue other opportunities. Now -Online marketing has freed up time allowing more than one business can be worked at the same time.
As a traditional network marketer, in order to take advantage of the evolution of MLM will require you to discard the ways and methods used in the past. Simultaneously, a commitment to invest in educating yourself in the current ways of internet marketing is imperative. The inability to embrace the new way of network marketing will inevitably lead to the failure many network marketers.
